During lockdown The Sussex Beacon has continued to support people living with HIV in Sussex, extending our service to people’s home. To celebrate the efforts of our supporters, staff, volunteers and people living with HIV in Sussex, over the next 28 days we’ll be sharing interesting facts, statistics, information and more about how we’ve kept going throughout the pandemic and lockdown! On Wednesday 16th December our community joined us for a special, socially distanced carol concert held at St Paul’s Church on West Street in Brighton’s centre. In the year of COVID there were no mince pies or mulled wine as we had ensure the venue was COVID-secure and safe for attendees. Yet the congregation had a lovely time, despite not being able to join in with the songs – we look forward to next year when normal service may resume. November 2020 Update The Sussex Beacon will be available to all of our service users during the month of November. Our building is Covid secure (according to current HSE guidelines) and we have put measures in place to keep everyone safe while they are here. Our hospital will remain open and we will continue to take admissions as usual. Our Health Management services will also be operating. We have found that we work far more effectively when we actually meet our service users. We will continue
We are sorry to announce that the Brighton Half Marathon is postponed from 28thFebruary 2021 to Sunday 27th June 2021 following the recent escalation of Covid-19 cases and change in Public Health guidance. We opened the 2021 event in July in a mood of optimism following the relaxing of three months of national lockdown. With restrictions once again tightening and likely to be in place for months longer, we need to change our plans to ensure that runners, spectators, volunteers and staff are all safe at the event.
