The Sussex Beacon are delighted to be offering Volunteer Peer Mentor Training at the end of February. By becoming a peer mentor, you will help people living with HIV manage their lives, and help them feel a valued part of the community. Everyone reacts differently when receiving an HIV+ diagnosis. People may feel upset, shocked, angry, or just have trouble taking in the information. Your role will be to help them through what can be a very difficult time.
If you wish to help others and pass on your knowledge, you could be an immense help to someone either recently diagnosed, or in need of support.
As a mentor, you will receive from us:
- Accredited training
- Skills development
- Knowledge through shared experience
- Connection with others living with HIV
- Ongoing supervision and training as a mentor
Volunteer Peer Mentor training will be held at the Sussex Beacon on 23rd, 24th, and 25th February.
The timings are:
Saturday 23rd 10:00am – 5:00pm
Sunday 24th 10:00am – 4:30pm
Monday 25th 10:00am – 4:15pm
Refreshment will be provided each day and travel expenses can also reimbursed.
