Halloween Fundraising Ideas

Put the 'Fun' into Fundraising this Halloween!

Halloween is a fantastic time to get fundraising, as there are a huge range of ideas out there to entertain children and adults this time of year. If you would like to raise vital funds for our services for people living with HIV, we have a few Halloween fundraising ideas below to get you started.

1. Host a Halloween party (the night of the living dead is a popular theme)

Use your home or hire a space to host a fundraising party for families, adults or children. Ask your local halls and pubs, some venues will offer their space for free for charity fundraisers. Gather a group of family and friends to decorate the room, put a music playlist together and organise a variety of games, competitions and raffles to raise extra funds (see ideas below). Charge a fee to attend, with an extra fee for not dressing up!

2. Host a haunted house

A great Halloween fundraising activity for adults or for children. Choose your audience and your scariness level, decorate your rooms with different themes or activities and charge people a fee to enter. Why not try a witches house, mad scientist or surgeons theater theme. For less scary themes for children, try a Hansel and Gretel, Egyptian mummy or Frankenstein theme.

3. Spooky bake sale

Put your baking skills to use this Halloween and rustle up some deliciously scary treats. You could sell them at work, ask your children's school to host it, sell them at your party or sell to your family and friends.

4. Pumpkin smash

Ever wondered how far you could throw a pumpkin? As Halloween draws closer, plenty of unsellable pumpkins go to waste. Ask your local growers and sellers for the pumpkins they are going to bin, and get throwing! Host a competition in a local field, and charge people to enter. The furthest throw wins a prize.

5. Halloween firework party

Gather your friends in the garden for marshmallow toasting, hot soup and hot dogs, fireworks and Halloween themed drinks. Ask your guests for a donation for food and drinks.

6. Halloween costume bidding war

Do you have a Halloween fancy dress day at work? Ask your colleagues to make donations to a fundraising page, with the highest donor choosing your costume!

7. Pumpkin carving competition

Obtain or put together a spooktacular prize. Charge people to enter a pumpkin which they must carve, the best design wins the prize. Host the competition at your home or a local venue, and allocate judges or ask your audience to vote for their favourite.

8. Run in fancy dress

Hove is home to the Halloween Fun Run, open to all the family. All proceeds from the event go to The Sussex Beacon, but if you want to go that extra mile, set up a fundraising page and ask people to sponsor you. You could let them bid to choose your costume! Sign up here.

Party game ideas:

  1. Apple bobbing
  2. Guess the name of the witches cat
  3. Blindfolded 'whats in the box?'
  4. Count the maggots (or sweets)
  5. Trick or treat lucky dip
  6. Raffle
  7. Tombola (or Zombola!)
  8. Secret auction
  9. Toilet roll mummy competition
  10. Scariest dressed
  11. Pin the bow on the skeleton
  12. Halloween bingo
  13. Heads or tails quiz
  14. Face painting
  15. Bash the pinata
  16. Cookie decorating
  17. Donut on a string eating contest (no hands!)

So there you have it. If you would like to host a spooktacular fundraiser to raise vital funds for our services which help people living with HIV, get in touch at fundraising@sussexbeacon.org.uk or call us on 01273 645691, and don't forget to send in photos to share on our social media! We will be happy to answer any questions, provide you with useful resources and give you information to help you get fundraising this Halloween.
