Services at The Sussex Beacon
Set in a tranquil location overlooking the South Downs, north of Brighton, The Sussex Beacon is a nationally recognised centre of excellence in HIV care.
Opened in 1992 as a hospice for people dying of AIDS-related illnesses, the Beacon is now one of only two centres of its kind in the country, with 10 residential beds and a range of community services.
With the advent of new treatments, the focus has changed to that of providing specialist care and support to individuals living with HIV. As client groups and client needs have changed over the years, so The Sussex Beacon continues to adapt to reflect and meet these changing needs.
Our approach is one which provides the client with total care - physical, psychological, spiritual, cultural, social and emotional. All clients, whether utilising the Residential, Day or Health Management services, will have a personalised programme of care, devised in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team, referrer and client.
The aims and wishes of the client are central to the design of such programmes. Our approach to care is one that focuses on empowering people to manage their own health with appropriate levels of support. |
